What is Overtone?

Overtone is an AI-enhanced RSS reader that surfaces trending topics across your subscription graph using a ranked Volume list — a modern successor to Fever's hot list algorithm. It combines URL-based link clustering with AI semantic similarity to automatically detect when multiple sources cover the same story. Compatible with Reeder and NetNewsWire via the Fever API.

Works with

You can read the
algorithm yourself.

volume = (signal × 1.0 + noise × 0.5)
  × freshness
  + semantic_similarity
  + community_boost
Cross-source signal
When 3+ independent sources cover the same story, that's worth your attention.
Signal counts double
Your must-read sources carry twice the weight. Noise enriches without dominating.
24-hour decay
Stories cool down naturally. The list stays current without you managing it.
AI clustering
Same story, different headlines? Semantic similarity merges them into one topic.
Community boost
In groups, what members save and upvote amplifies the score.

Everything you need.
Nothing you didn't ask for.
